Shipping to and from Haiti

• Bill of Lading: All collect amounts must be paid in full to obtain BL. Local charges such as Floating Pier Surcharge must be paid at destination. 
• All Importers must submit their declarations to customs within 21 days. After this freetime a penalty will apply. 
• Original BL is required to clear Customs. No dummy BLs/ are accepted for any purpose.
• Weight must be in kilos and measurements in cubic meters (CBM).
• Manifest must be presented 48 hours prior to vessel arrival.
• Amendments CAN’T be done once cargo has been manifested.

• No Short shipments allowed. For cargo release, customer must present to Haiti Customs: 2 OBLs, commercial invoice and packing list and payment of the corresponding duties. 
• No collect charges accepted by destination for humanitarian help, diplomatic and government cargo.

The carrier shall have no liability whatsoever arising out of or in connection with the acts of any person who unlawfully, by the use of force or threats of any kind, damages, seizes, or exercises control over the Goods, over any Sub-Contractor or over any means of transportation or storage of the Goods within Haitian territory. Therefore, merchant must arrange any escort in order to protect the cargo and the carriers’ equipment if the conditions requires it; otherwise, Maersk’s obligations will concluded at the port of discharge in Haitian territory.

Our setup in Haiti consists of Combined Demurrage & Detention.

This means you will have one combined free time period and compensation for utilization of equipment inside and outside of terminals or depots, referred to as Combined Demurrage & Detention.
