Commodity
For all inbound shipments into Malaysia Ports, import permit is mandatory for below commodities:
- Beer and Alcohol
- Cigarette
- Sugar
- Rice
- Automotive (Vehicles)

Booking for Automobile and personal effects
Based on local custom’s restriction, booking for such commodities can be made only for one container per owner per bill of lading. Failing such, consignee would not be able to proceed with custom clearance.
Hazardous waste
Under Basel Convention Law, Malaysia restricts the import of hazardous waste and other waste for transit, final disposal and recovery. Special permit from Department of Environment Malaysia is compulsory. Cargo without permits will not be accepted during booking and will not be allowed to discharge in Malaysia. Cargo will be retained on board at shipper and consignee own risk and cost.

In order to comply with the recent government ruling from the National Solid Waste Management Department of Malaysia (JPSPN), Sealand Asia will be implementing new procedures on the import of plastic scrap into Malaysia.
