Restrictions

Commodity

  • No restrictions, including reefer cargo (frozen and chilled loads). However for best cargo quality upon arrival, please contact our import sales department (Tamer.Farouk@seagoline.com) prior to booking for further details. 
  • IMO cargo subject to prior approval by our Operations department. Please contact local import customer service.
  • Effective 1st March 2005. The Fire Department in Alexandria Port has announced an official circulation that LCL and FCL IMO shipment imported to Alexandria, Egypt must contain below 3 mentioned items attached on each cargo pack8281age and cargo manifest.
  •         Scientific Name
  •         IMO Class
  •         UN Number
  • Imports of IMO 5.1 are not acceptable in Alexandria while accepted into Port Said East.
  • Customer must take delivery of IMO shipments within 7 days otherwise cargo will be re-exported back to origin.
  • IMO tanks are subject to direct delivery and consignee's written confirmation must be obtained before booking is accepted/confirmed. If IMO tanks are not directly released by consignees upon arrival, they will be re-stowed on account of customer, please contact our Import Customer Service.
  • Cigarettes: Cigarettes bookings are not accepted to Egypt.
  • Tobacco: Due to the very high fines and exposure for the line when handling the tobacco business, please ensure that you follow the below SOP without fail, 
  •         Origin to contact Import Customer Service with full info about the ultimate consignee in Egypt. The later would check against ban customers list. 
  •         The shipper MUST arrange an independent survey during stuffing the containers.
  •         Survey is to be forwarded to Import Customer Service, who would compare against info updated in the system. We would also present to customs in case of dispute against any                     discrepancies in piece count, marks and numbers, seal no., …etc.
  •         Import Customer Service would revert with the green light to load containers.
  •         It must be very well noted that if the above mentioned procedures are not adhered to, then the containers will NOT be discharged and shall be returned back to origin on the same                   vessel.
  •  Used Computer monitors: Used computer monitors / accessories that were produced before year 2003 will not be allowed into the country by the Egyptian customs, and the cargo will be  rejected/neglected. Please ensure to check with Import Customer Service prior loading this kind of goods.

Weight/Measurements

  • Break-bulk is not accepted.
  • Alexandria Terminal 1 maximum crane capacity is 32 MT.
  • Unitized OOG subject to prior approval by our Operations department. Please contact local Import Customer Service.

Equipment

  • All equipment is accepted except for 45' reefer.

Bill of lading clausing

All inbound bills of lading should be updated with the following clause:

  • Free Out - "All discharging costs & other costs up to / including loading empty is for account & risk of merchant"
  • In transit to Libya No acceptance of cargo "In transit to Libya" or consigned to Libyan consignees.
  • Cargo In-Transit to Libya clause is not acceptable and has been banned by the Libyan/Egyptian authorities and will be considered as act of smuggling except for cargo originating from a country with a shared border with Libya.

Bill of lading General Requirments

  • All bills of lading must show real consignee's full name and address including phone number and, where possible, fax number.
  • All consignments bound to Egypt must have an Egyptian recipient otherwise cargo will be subject to a customs fine of USD 250.
  • Deadline for any amendment in the bill of lading, cargo destination, cargo weight etc...is 3 days prior to vessel arrival to avoid customs fines.

Currency

  • Demurrage charges are payable in USD.
  • Both prepaid and collect freight are acceptable in USD / EUR /GBP.

Manual Documentation Fee

From November 1st 2016, all shipping instruction submissions for your shipments must be submitted through My.Seagoline.com or any other online platform (EDI, INTTRA etc.).

In case that you still wish to submit the shipping instructions manually, a Manual Documentation Fee (MDF) is applied.
