Export Detention

Equipment detention commences on and includes the day that the empty container is collected and ends on the day that the full container is gated-in at the first load port.

All UK ports including Belfast

• Non-operating reefer (NOR) will be charged as REEFER equipment
• Shippers’ own containers (SOC) will not be subject to equipment detention charges
• The free time & charges applied will be those in place on the origin price calculation date (PCD)
• Cancelled (frustrated) exports will be subject to detention charges without free time

Export Demurrage

Demurrage (including equipment & storage) commences on and includes the day that the full container is gated-in at the first load port and ends on the planned arrival day of the vessel on which the container is shipped. If the container is not loaded by the carrier as intended the demurrage period will end on the planned arrival day of the vessel on which the container was booked to load.

Freetime: “Free Time” is the period agreed between the Carrier and the Merchant for which Demurrage and Detention shall not be paid by the Merchant.

Detention: Compensation payable when the Merchant holds Carrier's Container outside the port, terminal or depot beyond the agreed amount of Free Time.

Demurrage: Compensation payable when the Merchant holds Carrier’s Container inside the terminal, port or depot beyond the agreed amount of Free Time (the compensation includes terminal storage costs).

If you do need to amend or cancel your booking with us, please let us know by 12.00 PM two working days prior to your booked collection (excludes weekends). This enables us to avoid any unnecessary wasted journey charges being passed onto you and provides our drivers the best opportunity to get your cargo where it needs to be.

Max. road limitation

44,000 kgs (combined weight of truck, chassis, container & cargo cannot exceed 44000kgs). Legal road limit is 26,000 kgs gross cargo weight for a 40ft Dry unit and 27,000 kgs for a 20ft Dry unit.

Special cargoes

OOG, B/B & IMO cargo subject to our standard Sealand approval procedures.
