Surcharge Simplification for German ports

Effective from January 1st, 2017

In a continued effort to make it easier for our customers to do business with Seago Line, we have implemented a simplified surcharge structure for all shipments within the intra-European trade.

The new, simpler surcharge structure is designed to make it simpler for you to understand our rate structure, and to reduce the amount of time your organization spends on financial administration, including the processing of invoices.

The Terminal Handling Charge, Port Security Charge and Carrier Security Charge, which were previously applied together with seafreight, will no longer be charged as separate items.

Freetime and Demurrage

Demurrage import

Demurrage at seaport starts with discharge date (included) and ends with gate-out day (included) from terminal.

Demurrage inland starts with discharge date at port (included) and ends with gate-out day (included) from last CY depot/terminal of booking under Seago Line responsibility.

Free time and charges per container per calendar day (i.e. including week-ends and holidays) after freetime expires. Start date and end date are included in the calculation.

Notes:

  • Demurrage is including terminal storage costs and plug-in fees.
  • Demurrage is invoiced based on cargo type.
  • Special equipment, such as Flat Racks and Open Top equipment will always follow reefer free time and tariff.
  • IMO cargo in DRY container follows IMO rates. IMO cargo in active REEF or special equipment follows rate of REEF or special equipment respectively.
  • Shipper’s Own Container is considered as equivalent to corresponding container type.
  • NOR equipment follows rate of DRY equipment.
  • High cube and 9’6’’ equipment is considered equal to  8’6’’ equipment.
  • For special deals: Please bear in mind that the calculation method of charges for special deals (free time granted > tariff free time) is ‘progressive’ and the leadoff rate slap(s) will be reduced by the number of days in excess of tariff free time.
