COVID-19 Updates - Japan

We would like to share with you the latest updates related to the outbreak of COVID-19 and any impact to Sealand Asia’s operations in Japan.


Our leadership teams, as well as management in all other areas where cases of COVID-19 have been identified, are closely monitoring the situation as part of our strong commitment to ensure the safety of our employees whilst working towards mitigating any possible impact to our customers’ operations.

MAY 26, 2020


General Status:


The Japanese government have lifted the state of emergency for Tokyo neighboring prefectures and Hokkaido. The move ends nationwide restrictions.


Our Office and Counter Service:


From June01, TYO/OSA counter F2F activity will be partially resumed.
10:00-12:00 on every MON/WED/FRI
Counter team will show up our office every day to handle courier for import surrender.


APRIL 08, 2020


General Status:


The Japan government has extended the nationwide state of emergency until end of May. It was initially announced until the end of Golden week (6th of May, 2020) but decided to extend current status considering current circumstances.


Our Office and Counter Service:


Office hours remains unchanged, close to 100% working from home until end of May. Counter also remains closed.

Ports/Terminals/Depots:


Our operations including Terminal, Depots and other facilities continue to operate uninterrupted as per usual.


Truck Situation:

There are no reported issues with truckers and its capacity.


MARCH 27, 2020


General Status:


Tokyo Governor has requested citizens to stay indoors over the coming weekend and to work from home on weekdays at least until 12-Apr to combat increasing COVID-19 cases.


Our Office and Counter Service:


We are requested to drive remote working ratio up to 100% effective immediately and this includes our counter services. Currently under discussion how the counter will be run starting next week- this will be updated on next update but counter is open for today.


Port/Terminal/Depot Updates:


Our operations including Terminal, Depots and other facilities continue to operate uninterrupted as per usual.


Trucking:


There are no reported issues with truckers and its capacity.
