COVID-19 Updates - Myanmar

We would like to share with you the latest updates related to the outbreak of COVID-19 and any impact to Sealand Asia’s operations in Myanmar.

Our leadership teams, as well as management in all other areas where cases of COVID-19 have been identified, are closely monitoring the situation as part of our strong commitment to ensure the safety of our employees whilst working towards mitigating any possible impact to our customers’ operations.

APRIL 24, 2020

General Status:

The Myanmar Government recently announced a series of measures to control spread of COVID-19 during Post-Thingyan holidays including:

  • Night curfew between 22:00 – 04:00 hrs
  • MOHS issues 7 specific Yangon township citizens to stay home (with exceptions of essential out-going)
  • 21-day quarantine day for travel among states.

Likewise, the Ministry of Labour has also began the inspection of all working site (factories/ warehouse/ offices) between 20th–30th April on COVID-19 measures in factory/offices before giving the approval to start operations.

Our office and Counter service:

Majority of Sealand Myanmar staff are now working from home.

Yangon counter still remains in full service, however we encourage customers to use our online/E-Commerce channels.

Process Changes/Alternative Solutions/Other reminders for EXPORT and IMPORT

To comply with curfew announcement, we have adjusted our standard ED file/VGM/CY cut-off for feeders at City terminals (MIP and TMT) to be 18:00 hrs (from original 21:00 hrs). Please refer attached CA for the new Cut-off time for reference.

On an event of Thingyan Festival (Myanmar’s New Year Holiday) starting from Friday 10th April 2020 to Friday 17th April 2020, Sealand – A Maersk Company Myanmar office shall remain closed for the entire days. The office will resume business on Monday 20th April 2020 onwards.

Please be guided accordingly and kindly process your shipments before the mentioned dates especially for Shipping Instructions, Export Documents, Detention letter or Delivery Order.

General Status:

Being your trusted logistics partner, even in this difficult time of global coronavirus epidemic, we are committed to ensure the impact on your supply chain activities remains at minimum. We can confirm that all services remain running as usual.

Remarks: Our office will be close during Thingyan holidays on 10th-17th April 2020 (Water Festival).

To safeguard the safety and health of our customers and employees we will continue to support “Social Distancing” measures in our offices.

In line with this, our counter and cashier services are subject to a change in operation timing, effective Tuesday 31st March 2020 onward.

Your safety is our top priority, so we encourage you to stay at home and use our online services which are fully up and running. Below are the recommended services from us:

  • Sending us an email for “OBL Appointment”, enclosed with payment slip and send to customer service’s email as mention below
  • We will prepare OBL printing and revert with pick up confirmation to your email together with payment receipt.
  • On the appointed pick up date, customer contact to our counter services with copy of BL pick up form, without queue token require

General Status:

Government and private sectors remain running business as usual.

The Thingyan festival holidays still expected to continue this year with long holiday from 10th – 17th April. Government and Customs activities will be closed during holiday period.

Our Office and Counter Service:

Our Yangon office continues to operate to serve our customers as normal.
Counter working hours effective 30th March will be adjusted to: Mon-Fri 10:00 to 12:00, 13:00 to 16:00 hrs.

Our processes and procedures remain unchanged for now, but we highly encourage our customers to use our online/E-Commerce channels.
A Business Contingency Plan has likewise been prepared and is ready to activate in the event that we need to serve customers remotely in emergency situations.
