We would like to share with you the latest updates related to the outbreak of COVID-19 and any impact to Sealand Asia’s operations in Thailand.


Our leadership teams, as well as management in all other areas where cases of COVID-19 have been identified, are closely monitoring the situation as part of our strong commitment to ensure the safety of our employees whilst working towards mitigating any possible impact to our customers’ operations.

APRIL 20, 2020


General Status/Our Office and Counter Service:


As part of several control measures to ensure safety for our customers and employees strictly, please be informed that from April 20th, 2020 onwards every branch of Sealand A – Maersk Company Thailand’s counters and cashiers will cease operating temporarily.


However, customers can visit our counters to return original B/L or pick up B/L papers and revenue stamps.


Process Changes/Alternative Solutions/Other reminders for IMPORT and EXPORT


To maintain your smooth business continuity, we would like to introduce online solutions that will make printing B/L and D/O, submitting payment proof, and requesting receipt easier and more efficient.

APRIL 7, 2020


General Status:


The Prime Minister of Thailand has made an announcement for a nationwide “curfew” during 22:00-04:00hrs. Exception is made for medical and banking personnel, as well as logistic workers handling consumer products, farm goods, pharmaceutical products, medical supplies and equipment, newspapers, petrol, postal parcels, or products to be imported or exported. The curfew has taken effect from 3rd April, 2020 onward.


There is new measure to manage traveling in and out of the country. Those who wish to enter Thailand are urged to delay their travel for now until 18th April. If there is an urgent need, they may immediately seek advice from a Thai embassy or a consulate.


Our Office and Counter Service:


Majority of Sealand Thailand staff are working from home and office hours of Bangkok Office is adjusted to 8:00 – 16:00 hrs.


Counter Operating Hours:

  • Bangkok/Laem Chabang: 8:30 – 14:30
  • Songkhla 8:30 - 16:00

Port/Terminal/Depot Updates:


Our operations in ports, terminals and depots continue to operate uninterrupted as per usual.


Trucking and Cross-Border:


Domestic trucking operations remain operating as normal. Cross-border updates are below:


  • Malaysia (Bukit/Sadao): Open for truck, Closed for rail. Driver has to process health screening at border. MITI Approval is required in order to move the cargo.
  • Laos (Thanalang/Nongkhai): Open. Driver has to stop at border warehouse and transfer cargo to Laos transportation. No permission to drive into Laos. 
  • Laos (Suvanakhet/Mukdahan) : Open. Driver has to stop at border warehouse and transfer cargo to Laos transportation. No permission to drive into Laos.
  • Laos (Pakse/Chong Mek) : Open; truck drivers are required to present COVID-19 result
  • Cambodia (Piopet/Aranyaprathet) : Open. Driver has to process health screening at border.
  • Cambodia (Piopet/Aranyaprathet) : Open. Driver has to process health screening at border.
  • Myanmar (Myawadee/Maesod) :
    • Friendship Bridge number #1 – Close
    • Friendship Bridge number #2 – Open
    • The border channel for trucking cross border is now available on friendship bridge number 2 only with strict measure on health screening process for driver.

Process Changes/Alternative Solutions/Other reminders for EXPORT


We highly encourage all our customers to use our digital solutions or E-Channels for customer service, documentation and finance processes.
Already in effect, we have stopped acceptance of sea waybill pick-up at counter and will instead release Sea waybill via digital channels only.


Process Changes/Alternative Solutions/Other reminders for IMPORT


We have implemented issuance of E-D/O letter at Bangkok and Laem Chabang ports (except Laem Chabang B1/A0 terminal is expect to start in April)
Likewise we encourage Online payments. The receipt can be printed from MyFinance application while original receipt can be physically picked-up at counter.

General Status:


The Royal Thai Government announced a State of Emergency effective 26th March – 30th April in order to implement stricter measures to control the COVID-19 situation. The specific measures will be announced further by the Government on daily basis, depending on the progress of situation in country.


In order to control, limit and reduce the transportation activities that involve the cross-province transport of people, the government also announced the cancellation of the Songkran public holidays (April 13th – 15th) until further notice. The compensating holidays will be announced at a later time.
