Please note effective April 1st, 2023, we will update our U.S. import detention billing practices to no longer invoice motor carriers by default on merchant haulage moves. Instead, all import detention invoices will by default be issued to the consignee on the bill of lading.
This change will support our aim to provide timely and accurate detention invoicing to the correct party. In the event you wish motor carriers to be billed for your merchant haulage moves, we are extending this option to you upon request. Please reach out to our team at USDETBilling@maersk.com by March 15, 2023, with your request, and note we can only provide this on a full opt in basis meaning it will apply to all invoices for your company.
For those that prefer the consignee being billed, there is no need to take any action at this time.
We appreciate you for choosing Sealand and look forward to continually serving your global logistics needs. If you have any further questions, please contact your local Sealand representative.
